Why is the movement of Earth's Tectonic Plates significant?

The Earth's Tectonic Plates move when rising and falling convection currents cause pressure differentiates between the mantle and lithosphere. In your own words why is this movement important?

  1. I believe that the movement of Earth's tectonic plates is significant because this movement is responsible for the creation of some landforms. They can create islands, mountains, and sea landfroms. These landforms are home to creatures, and these lifeforms depend on the land for survival.

  2. The movement of Earth's tectonic plates is very significant. It is important because the Earth would not be the way it is now without them. There is a theory that Earth was once a large supercontinent called Pangaea. The plates moved the continents into what it is today.

  3. The movement of the tectonic plates is significant I believe because it helps molds the land. There are seven continents around the world and their shapes has played a role in tectonic plates. Just as Kaitlyn said, a scientist name Alfred Wegener proposed that the seven continents was once one huge continent called Pangaea. So from that note I think that the tectonics plates is one of the biggest features we have in the formation of our earth and land.

  4. Without plate tectonics and the movement of our land formations, our Earth would be a big land mass surrounded by water, called Pangaea. Plates move the continents into the seven that they are today.

  5. Plate tectonics are very important to us. They cause the formation of mountains, islands, and sea land formations.

  6. When these plate tectonics move it could be a very good thing or very bad thing. It is important for them to continally move because this could form new formations of land where life could continue. This could be bad in a way of an earthquake where the land shifts and separates. This could distroy everything on the land and the land as just itself.

  7. I think that plate tectonics are important because they cause the formation of mountain and many other land formations.

  8. I believe that plate tectonics is the initial reason of the shape of our continents and the blame for all of our oceans, and mountains, even our volcanic eruptions.

  9. The movement of plate tectonics is very significant. I believe it is the reason for the shape of our world today. They say all the continents used to be conected forming Pangea, and now there are many seperate ones due to the movement of plate tectonics. There are also many landforms made from this movement.

  10. Without this convection current the tectonic plate would not be able to move. Without this movement, no mountains or canyons or any lithospheric features would be present. These features affect the weather patterns greatly, so this could throw our predictions way off.
